- How do I take part in one of your hikes?
- New-comers are welcome to join us on one of our introductory hikes.
- Consult our web calendar for details of the next introductory hike and meet at the pre-arranged 1st meeting point - the Supervalu Carpark in Maynooth at 9:00am on the Sunday morning that has an introductory hike scheduled.
- Read our visitors rules which explains what to wear and bring with you.
- Enjoy the hike.
- Is there any charge for taking part in an introductory hike?
- There is no charge but if you are getting a lift with someone else on the hike make an offer to contribute towards fuel.
- How do I become a member?

A Visitor’s first hike must be an Intro/Visitor hike, after which you can apply for membership so long as that first hike involves a mountain/hill climb. Once a member, you can move up to Moderatewalk levelprovided you have completed at least 2 Intro/Visitor hikes as a visitor or member, should you have any questions or concerns about your ability for a walk, you should contact the walk leader before coming out. Visitors are free to come out on up to three Intro/Visitor hikes after which they must apply for club membership.
The cost of membership if €50.00 per year running from November in line with the Mountaineering Council of Ireland membership year.
- Do you do any mountaineering or rock climbing?
- No. Maynooth Hillwalking Club conducts hikes only. You should check out the Moutaineering Council of Ireland website http://www.mountaineering.ie for details of clubs that offer more exuberant activities!
- Can I bring my children?
- No. Maynooth Hillwalking Club only caters for adult walkers.
- Can I bring my dogs?
- No. As a lot of the walks are conducted in areas were wildlife and sheep are present it is safest not to allow pets.

Maynooth Hillwalking Club was established in 1998 to cater for the hillwalking interests of people in the North Kildare and Dublin areas.
The club walks most Sundays in the Dublin Wicklow mountains with occasional trips and weekends away to other parts of Ireland such as the Mourne Mountains, the Slieve Blooms, the Cooleys to name but a few.
Maynooth Hillwalking club members are members of the Mountaineering Council of Ireland and enjoy such benefits as: A Quarterly magazine - The Irish Mountain Log. Discounts in most outdoor shops and a variety of other related retailers.A personalised membership card (required for retailer discounts), Mountaineering Ireland insurance - mainly Civil Liability cover, includes Personal Accident cover for permanent injuries.
The club attracts a wide age range of walkers with most in the "middle-age" category.
Maynooth Hillwalking club has no child members.
